Every time someone mentioned the word reindeer, in my head started the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Had a very shiny nose, And if you ever saw it, You would even say it glows"
Yesterday I had an option to taste reindeer meat. My host family prepared a steak from it. I have never eaten this type of meat before. I was expecting the flavour to be similar to that of deer meat. But I was mistaken. I am at a loss for words to describe the flavour. If you ever have the opportunity to try this type of meat, do so! You will not regret it.
Traditionally, this dish is served with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam. I almost forgot to mention that Finnish people are eating lingonberry jam very often. Almost whenever they have food with potatoes. It surprised me at first because we eat this jam with dumplings in my family in the Czech Republic.
